Report: DNA barcode needs for the Top End

In June 2024, 55 professionals gathered at a workshop with the aim of understanding the status of DNA barcode libraries for northern Australian species. The outcomes of this workshop are now available online. They can be downloaded here or via the resources page.

The three recommendations to come out of the workshop were:

  1. Create strategic partnerships and collaborations between academia, industry, government and community groups to maximise funding opportunities
  2. Create professional opportunities and ongoing training in taxonomy, bioinformatics and molecular biology
  3. Create forums and find communication opportunities to highlight successes and increase awareness of DNA metabarcoding

Detailed information can be found in the report.
